Missing the point?

If, as is being alleged, information about sexual abuse of children by members of parliament in the 1980s wasn’t handled properly (e.g. lost or ignored) potentially someone has perverted the course of justice. The appointment of a ‘senior legal figure’ to investigate the matter is, in my opinion, indicative of a whitewash. Am I missing the point or is it a case for the police? Perhaps more importantly, with a general election imminent, is the government missing the point on purpose?

  1. And it won’t report until after the election. It will be a panel of experts like Hillsborough rather than a judge-led enquiry but it should still be a matter for the police. They are the only experts that can get to the botton of this. At least it will report before Chilcott.
